TT #7 Easy Over is from Kellam's Bridge the first ALL AMERICAN module from Critical Hit! I played this as the German against Dave Leeman as the America at the 1997 Critical Hit! FALL CLASSIC.
The Victory Conditions
To win the American must control 1stone building in Cauquigny at games end that is with in 2 to 4 hexes of the group at P5. There are 5 turns US moves and setup first.
THE TERRAIN and START
For those who do not have this or Timmins Orchard combo pack (both modules for one price) a little about the terrain this battle is fought on. There is a marsh that is 7 hexes wide, at its narrowest, with a orchard road way across it. At one end is Cauquigny (in the west ) and La Fiere (in the east). The US player starts set up, around P5 in Cauquigny, with a squad and a half, two Leaders and a hero with MMG and 44 BAZ on the western end of a 7 hex cause way that is the only road over the marsh that is between The rest of the US troops, 12 squads, 3 leaders, 2 mmg, 1 44 BAZ, and a M4, start in La Fiere no closer than row CC. There are 3 burnt out wrecks a truck and 4 factor AT mine at the head of the cause way on the La Fiere side. The German starts with 3 first line squads,4 second line squads 3 leaders, 2 LMG ,1 MMG and a radio with a 81 OBA.
THE BOCAGE
There is very little bocage in this action but there is some so Dave and I agreed to the following. During the Mph or APh a unit could claim WA, (if not otherwise restricted), with out an adjacent enemy unit, at the moving units option. If it claimed WA it could see and be seen. If it did not claim WA it could not see or be seen. (A defender could claim WA when a enemy unit moved adjacent.) WA can be claimed or dropped once per player turn.
THE GAME
I set up the MMG and a LMG with a 4-6-7 each and the 9-1 in the stone building that looks right down the cause way. This is in the center of the German position, I put the other LMG and 4-6-7, one 4-4-7 and 8-0 to cover the southern building and the two 4-4-7 and 7-0 with radio to cover the north and rear of the center. I was hoping that they could act as a reneforcment if needed.
Dave set up his troops in La Fiere behind a bocage out of LOS and the M4 overlooking the marsh with a LOS right into my positions. One his first shot he smoked my mg building but it did him no good as we still KIAed his hero who AMed next to us.
Over the next two turns Dave moved his troops in La Fiere down to the cause way and removed the AT mines. While he was doing this I was able to brake and destroy his attack on the Cauquigny side and keep a good fire lane right down the cause way. The OBA never made it on. Things were going my way until he set up both MMG's, 3x7-4-7 and a 8-1 in a fire group. In the next hex was 3x 7-4-7. These two groups then broke my center position, the MMG and LMG 2x 4-6-7 and now heroic 9-1( who wounded and died). There was a mad rush by a few of the survivors of my attacks and the buildings and game was Dave's.
I will play this again as either side. The game was about 2hrs long and fun. A good evenings play when time is short. In a few days my AAR of 'Firefight before Breakfast
